Customer Due Diligence Regulations 2023 require financial institutions to establish internal process and procedures.

Wetin CBN want banks to ask dia customers?

  • legal name and any oda names dem dey use (such as maiden name)
  • Permanent address (full physical address)
  • Residential address (where dem fit locate di customer)
  • Telephone number, e-mail address and social media handle,
  • Date and place of birth,
  • Bank Verification Number (BVN),
  • Tax Identification Number (TIN),
  • Nationality,
  • Occupation, public position wey dem hold and name of employer
  • An official personal identification number or oda unique identifier
  • wey dey inside unexpired document from government agency,
  • wey go show dia name, photograph and signature of di customer such as a
  • passport, national identification card, residence permit, social security
  • records or drivers’ license
  • Type of account and nature of di banking relationship, and
  • signature, and politically exposed persons (PEPs) status

And low-risk customers banks go dey review dem every three years.
