The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Idris Wase on Monday visited Governor Nyesom Wike to solicit support for the speakership.
Wase disclosed this on Monday in a tweet posted on his Twitter page.
The Plateau State lawmaker, a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, visited the oil-rich governor, who is a Peoples Democratic Party member.
Mr Wase is set to face several other members who have already declared interest in the seat. Some of the members of the House that have declared interest include Yusuf Gagdi from Plateau State and Abubakar Makki from Jigawa State.
“I was accompanied by a team of Honorable members and Members-elect of the House of Representatives on a one-day consultative visit to H.E Nyesom Wike the Executive Governor of Rivers State to share my aspiration for the speakership of the tenth Assembly.
“Thank you for your support, warm welcome and hospitality,” he tweeted.
The speakership election is scheduled for June, however, the ruling party is yet to make a pronouncement on the zoning of the offices.
