Agbakoba Tasks 10th NASS on National Issues

A former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Olisa Agbakoba, has tasked the 10th National Assembly to provide lasting solutions to some problems that affect the nation’s development.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria stated that Nigeria was “facing perhaps the greatest challenge in our convoluted history.”

Agbakoba mentioned the problems of mass unemployment, broken hospitals, bad roads, high cost of living, among others,

In a statement on Wednesday, the SAN said there needs to be an overhaul of the anti-corruption agencies, as they are not “playing in harmony with orchestra” and are “mostly overzealous in their work.”

He told the Nigerian citizens to constantly be on the neck of the lawmakers in order to solve the nation’s lingering problems.

Agbakoba stressed that the lawmakers need to focus more on efficient revenue generation, as there are “low hanging fruits that can raise N100 trillion to sort out our huge problems.”

The SAN added that there should be a critical review of the legal framework of the anti-corruption agencies for effectiveness.

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa, was earlier suspended by President Bola Tinubu over “weighty allegations of office abuse.”
