A non-governmental organisation, Shape A Child, has unveiled plans for today’s World Values Day, aimed at inspiring and engaging corporate organisations, schools and communities in a transformative journey towards a value-driven society.
Founder and Managing Director, Shape A Child, Izehi Anuge, at a media briefing in Lagos, said the World Values Day offers a unique platform to champion the cause of education and its impact on individuals, children, adolescents, communities, and corporate culture.
According to her, the group is focused on fostering collective awareness and a call to action, recognising that values serve as the common thread that unite all.
Anuge said the group, in its efforts at ensuring sustainability and responsible citizenship, has launched an initiative, ‘Recycle’ where two groups of young environmental champions in schools will embark on recycling projects.
She said in doing the projects, designed for completion within four weeks, participants would create solutions using materials that are, at least, 75 per cent waste material.
“The goal is to nurture creativity, responsibility and sustainability, instilling values that drive positive change in our environment,” she added.
Anuge added that the group is committed to instilling and reintegrating values into young minds and society, through experiential learning approach and integrated curriculum. Sharing her perspective on the importance of values, Anuge said: “They are the compass that guides us on our journey through life. The theme for this year’s World Values Day speaks to unity, collaboration, and inclusion, values that are profoundly important for corporate entities to integrate into their organisational culture.
“As we celebrate World Values Day 2023, let us unite for a brighter, value-driven future. Good values are not only essential in shaping children and young adults, they are also vital for businesses and society at large, as they reflect personal moral and ethical values.”
“From our workshops, art exhibition and the ‘Recycle, Rebuild and Reconnect’ projects in select schools across Nigeria, we are committed to creating a positive change that extends beyond individuals and institutions, shaping a brighter future for all,” she added.
