Yobe School Wins Operation Hadin Kai Quiz Competition

The Fika Government Secondary School (FGSS), Potiskum in Yobe State, has won the 2023 Operation Hadin Kai(OPHK) quiz competition in the North-East. According to the Nigerian Army, the competition was to encourage students to take academic activities seriously and excel at higher education levels.

OPHK Theatre Commander, Maj.-Gen, Gold Chibuisi, who declared the quiz open, yesterday, in Maiduguri, said: “We’re here today to witness one of the non-kinetic community impacting endeavour instituted by the leadership of Joint Task Force (JTF) of the OPHK.

“It’s the grand finale of the maiden inter-secondary school quiz competition in the North-East. The competition is the brainchild of the Commander to encourage young ones to take their academic activities seriously.”

He said the exercise would secure students’ future with insurgency-free education in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states. Besides, the Commander added that quiz competition among schools is the convergence and emergence of winners from the three participating states affected in the over a decade insurgency.

While presenting certificates, medals and prizes awards to three participating secondary schools and their students, FGSS was given a cash prize of N500,000, while YSS and GSS were each given N250, 000 and N150,000 respectively for emerging second and third positions. The nine participating students were also each given cash prizes of N20,000, N30,000 and N50,000 for the first, second and third positions in the quiz competition.

Borno State Commissioner for Education, Science, Innovation and Technology, represented by Director of Education, Ali Musa, challenged the teachers to emulate what the Army has done in the education and health sectors, including the restoration of peace in the state.
